Andy Reid is a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Reid met his wife Tammy in a physical education class at BYU. They have five children, each of whom was born in a different state – sons Garrett, Britt, and Spencer, and daughters Crosby and Drew Ann. In January 2007, Reid’s two oldest sons were involved in two separate, serious automobile incidents, and subsequently had a number of charges filed against them, including assault and drug possession. In 2008, Reid contributed $2,300 to fellow Mormon, Mitt Romney in his 2008 Presidential Campaign. Reid, who was a Lutheran, become a Mormon after meeting his wife, Tammy. They have been married since 1981. They have five children, three sons (Garrett, Britt and Spencer), and two daughters (Drew Ann and Crosby). Reid and his family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Reid’s sons have both struggled with drug and alcohol problems. Reid’s oldest son, Garrett, suffered from drug addiction for several years and served time in prison for various crimes. He was found dead from a heroin overdose on August 5, 2012, in his dormitory room at the Eagles’ training site; he was 29 years old. Britt Reid, currently the Chiefs’ linebackers and outside linebackers coach, had previously been arrested for drug possession and brandishing a handgun at another motorist in suburban Philadelphia, in 2007. Days before the Super Bowl in 2021, Britt Reid, driving his Ram pickup truck, slammed into a car carrying two small children. One is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Born in Los Angeles, California, Reid attended John Marshall High School and worked as a vendor at Dodger Stadium as a teenager. He also played youth sports in East Hollywood at Lemon Grove Recreation Center, and among his coaches was Pete Arbogast, who is the radio announcer for the USC football team, and formerly the radio play-by-play man for the Cincinnati Bengals. In 1971, at age 13, Reid appeared live on Monday Night Football during the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition; he was already so large that he wore the jersey of Les Josephson (6’1″, 207 pounds). Reid played offensive tackle at Glendale Community College in Glendale, California, then at Brigham Young University from 1978 to 1980 where he was a teammate of Jim McMahon and Tom Holmoe.
